Reviews and Ratings
The hotel offers a mixed experience with clean but somewhat tired rooms overlooking Neptunes Staircase and Ben Nevis. The service stands out for its exceptional pleasantness and helpfulness, accompanied by a lovely canal walk. The location, while good for views, may pose some restrictions in certain rooms. The dining experience is highlighted by lovely freshly cooked meals, with a good quality Scottish breakfast available. The facilities are sufficient for a comfortable stay.
The hotel has a lovely outside sitting area overlooking the canal, making it a convenient and picturesque location. The rooms were lovely and well presented, but some rooms could use improvement. The service was fantastic with thoughtful and kind gestures from the management. However, the dining options were not great, and some prices were expensive.
The hotel had lovely, well-presented rooms with lots of space and a view of Neptune's Staircase, but the toiletries could be improved. The service was fantastic, especially from Keir, who went above and beyond, but the overall service was slow and inattentive. The location was good with views of mountains and canal locks and was pet-friendly, but a bit far from bars and restaurants by foot. The dining experience was ordinary and pricey, with a few service issues. Overall, a pleasant stay with room for improvements.
The hotel is located right by Neptunes Staircase with lovely views over the Caledonian Canal. The rooms are comfortable and well-maintained, though they had a slight smell of stale tobacco. The service provided was excellent and very helpful. The dining was satisfactory, serving piping hot full Scottish breakfast but with limited options. Overall, the location was exceptional for exploring the area, but some might find it a bit overpriced.
My stay at the hotel was a mix of highs and lows. Our room had stunning views over the Canal at Neptune's Steps, but it was small, smelly, and had mold around the bath. However, the bed was really comfortable and well tended by the maids who provided complimentary bottled water and treats. Service was a bit chaotic with staff clearing plates before we finished our meals, but they were friendly and tried their best despite being short-staffed. The location was excellent for exploring the West Highlands, right off the main road between Fort William & Mallaig, perfect for our train trip. The dining experience had its ups and downs; while breakfast was one of the best I've had in this budget range, the scrambled eggs were dry, and the sausage was undercooked. Facilities were basic but functional, nothing extraordinary.
Our stay had its ups and downs. The rooms were a bit of a letdown at first but got sorted out eventually. The service was exceptional, really going the extra mile to accommodate us. The location is perfect for exploring the area, although the weather didn't cooperate. Unfortunately, the dining experience didn't quite match our expectations.
I had a mixed experience at this hotel. The rooms were spacious with a fantastic view of the Neptune locks and Ben Nevis, perfect for corporate guests. However, our room wasn't made up during our stay, which was a letdown compared to other hotels. The location was great for an overnight stay, offering stunning views and immediate access to the Caledonian Canals towpaths.
The hotel's location is outstanding, right by the Caledonian Canal with views of Ben Nevis. The rooms were lovely, very comfortable, and clean, adorned with plenty of extras. The service was incredibly friendly and accommodating, especially at the reception. The dining experience had a good range of choices although it was not included in the price we paid. The facilities were up to standard, perfect for a relaxed post-activity drink overlooking the lochs and Ben Nevis.
I couldn't have asked for a better location for this hotel, overlooking the Ben Nevis and with a lovely outside area by the canal – simply amazing! The rooms, though overlooking a noisy bin area, were unexpectedly well-appointed, which I appreciated. However, the noise from the next-door TV playing all night was quite bothersome. The dining experience, providing tasty meals with a fantastic view of Neptune's Staircase, was excellent value for money. The free complimentary hot drinks during a delay were a thoughtful touch, but I did encounter a not-so-helpful staff member. Overall, a lovely stay with a few drawbacks.
